timo Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) This be gone now. After a brief love affair with this I've decided I prefer my Paulman after all so I have to move it on. It's a Musicman Bongo 5 HH in lovely desert gold finish. It's got a bit of damage which I've tried to show in the pictures: there is an approximately 1.5 inch chip in the lacquer above the bridge end strap button (I got it in this condition, I assume it was dropped) and a phone number lightly scratched into the lacquer towards the bottom of the pickguard. The chip gets covered by the strap when playing so no one in the audience will notice that and the phone number is so faint that I didn't notice it for a couple of weeks and couldn't get a good photo of it. The Musicman fitted hard case is included, this has 'Macs Music' painted on it. Finally, one of the original strap buttons fell out and I can't remember the safe place I put it so I'll include a set of brand new Dunlop Dual Design straplocks. Enough of the bad bits, the bass is well set up and plays really nicely, looks stunning and sounds huge. The preamps in these things really are monstrous! The Bongo features:

Basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
Dual neodymium humbuckers
4-band 18V EQ
24 frets
More info available at http://www.music-man...ses/bongo-5.htm I'm after £750 delivered, you're welcome to come and try and/or collect it in Sheffield. I'm after the monies but trades are fun so I'll consider anything! (preferably cheaper 5 strings) Ta for looking, Tim. Edited May 15, 2012 by timo
Jimryan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I had the 4 string version of this in desert gold. Fantastic bass. Got really excited when I noticed the finish and price, shame about the chip.
timo Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 Aye, never bothered me though. Still as good a funk machine as ever!
timo Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 A Bongo, a Bongo, they play them in the Congo... (and everywhere else because they're lovely)
TommyK Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 This was mine for a while, good honest bass, plays brilliantly and sounds absolutely massive! Cheap way to try the Bongo sounds folks.
mushers Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 wishing i had not bought a bass already this year seeing this have you tried the phone number ? i would be real curious if it was my bass who's number could it be
lucatus Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Bongos are great basses, but it's true it takes some time to get used to them! Have a free bump on me and I wish I had the cash to get this one....
lowregisterhead Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Oh Tim, that Paulman! It won't let go, will it??
timo Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Hehe, the Paulman will be staying for the foreseeable future/forever. Haven't tried the phone number yet...
