Murray Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Hello All, This is my first experience in participating in a forum, I been a guest viewer here and at Talk Bass for some time and the views and opinions expressed here helped me get set up in my new role playing the bass. After 27 years of playing 6 string guitars I decided to have a go at playing what I have quickly realised is the more challenging big brother of the guitar family (in my experience anyhow). I had always been a accomplished Rhythm Guitarist (and still play guitar in a couple of bands) but fancied giving the bass a go. To that end and the painful lessons learnt over the years of GAS re 6 String Stuff I went for buy my rig once and well. I have a Musicman Sterling (single humbucker) and a Mark Bass Jeff Berlin Combo and I am overjoyed at the sound I can produce. Many thanks to all those who have contributed their views and experience as following this has been very helpful. I'm playing gig's with the Stafford Based 'Sour Mash - The Blues Band', I see blues as a starting point in devloping but in the long haul I want to get into a band that forces me to try to recreate some Donald Dunn bass lines. Well without rambling (some more) that's me for now. Murray Quote
TommyK Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Welcome along Murray, have fun and steer clear of the market place if you are a GAS addict! There is far too much purdy stuff in there!! Quote
Murray Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 It's true. The GAS always seems greener on the other side... Quote
