Dear 1moreguitar,
Mo :-
Update from previous (ebay) seller:-
(1)..." When we took in this bass it had Bill Nash tags on it and we sold it the same way.
The member selling it now is not who we sold it to....."

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160738613384

Q: does it still have those hang-tags / are they 'old' ?
Q: sold end of Feb to another buyer - when did you get the bass?

... and from Bill Nash:-
(2) ..." It could be something very early* as we did use Warmoth necks in the first couple years on some basses. A lot of it does not look right. The lack of paint in the neck pocket. The faded paint UNDER where the guard was (usually lacquer goes the other way - yellowing where it is exposed). The lack of any aging on the back of the neck and the extra strap button on back of the headstock...."
* hence the Q. re. the hang-tags

genuine? ... Discuss

Hi Dave, I thought Bill Nash signs the back of the Heasdstock.well he he did on the one I owned . and the neck is too shiney,Rich

Hi Rich - yes, that's the first thing I queried on the intial listing and they replied saying all references to BN had been removed. seems like they then relisted with the original description. I sent all the details in my OP to 'Mo' (1moreguitar/ebay) .. but he's not replied.

That was a very a silly thing to do,as it is the only thing that that makes it obviously a Nash Bass.

Sorry Rich, my reply was a bit unclear: they (said they had) removed all References to Bill Nash on the ebay listing; not from the bass itself ! According to the current listing (itself a relist) there is 'J-63' in black pen inside the neck pocket and the neck is clearly a Warmoth. It seems odd to have a BN bass without the rear-headstock signature and, if it is an early one (the only time/period BN used Warmoth) then it's surprising that it looks so new. Bill himself queries the lack of aging on the neck, along with some other factors. And no idea if the hang-tags are still there ... again surprising, if it's an old/early bass that these would still be with it. I guess BN is getting something of a reputation and, whilst it might be hard(er) - in principal (any lawyers reading this?) - to forge his signature, it - again might - be relatively easy to write J-63 into a neck pocket and to produce some of the quite simple 'Nash' hang-tags . I don't think the hang-tags were ever shown on the auction, though.
