police squad
I can't wait. But I'm gonna have to wait for it. John at Bravewood is a bigger Sting fan than me. He sounds like a really top bloke. This bass will be used by me, in my Police Tribute band. Normally I play a young Sting, 'flying suit, shades and a Fretless 70's P Bass' but this gives me the oppurtunity to play a grown up Sting too. anyone got a Van Zalinge Z bass for sale? Dr H
What do you think a Z Bass is worth currently?
police squad
no idea, but probably more than I could afford at the moment. pm me if you like
BassBod
Now that's a possible deal you could wait a long, long time for! Mind you, its a still a big thing to cart around for only one or two songs in a set....assuming you haven't got crew to do that for you. police squad
I'd use it on more than a couple. A crew? in my dreams )
Rick's Fine '52
Good luck with the bass. I assembled, and relic'd my own last year, delighted with it, saves my original from wear too. I have one of Johns creations (Not this one), and he does a great job. Here's pics of my attempt at a '55; Before shot: (after buying a Sting bass-for the contours, and a '51 reissue, swapping the necks, and selling the 'solid-body' Sting); After; Rick. BassBod
Lovely....but I'd prefer a pristine one, just like Monk Montgomery's Mastersound bass.

BassBod
Oh yes...that's the one. But I wouldn't ever trust myself with a real one....its worth about ten times more than my car! Nice job on the relic version - that must have taken some time and effort on the modern poly finish!

BassBod
Actually... at last calculation any one of my current basses was worth more than my car. Think I should be saving for a new (old) car, rather than looking at nice old Fenders! Or maybe just get another job..... BTW the Jazz in my pic is mostly Bravewood! BassBod
[attachment=106256:IMG_0124.JPG] Well spotted! It was originally built around a '66 (dot and bound) neck....then parted out by Walbassist. Now has a similar neck by Wes Steed. Very light weight and sounds fantastic. Still fancy an older style Pbass...
