Gust0o
Chaps, I'm sure a lot of you know the pain - that realisation that your rock and roll antics have just carved a whole in your forearm or wrist from contact with the guitar body. I'm getting it a lot at the moment, as I've gone pretty much all pick with the band - and, with my basses sitting where they sit, I'm carving myself. I had been wearing simple sports bands, covering the wrist, but I'm needing something more substantial, covering more of the forearm. And no, not gloves. I play rock. I'd get all kinds of sh*t. Anyone know what I'm blathering about? Anyone have any tips? Are these musicians things, or am I back to trawling the sports shops again?
Haha, I could double up as a coatstand, which should give me plenty of protection I'm wondering if one of the medical/sporting bands might suffice. I saw my doctor about my hand about three months ago, as my picking hand is the one which suffered the nerve damage (well, the entire arm did, to be fair) in 2003, and it has the world's worst circulation. Thinking out loud. Have no idea. Do have a hole in my right forearm, though.

Earbrass
Don't archers use something like you're describing to protect their bow arm from the string? Or did I dream that? No, it's real: http://www.archeryworld.co.uk/acatalog/Bracers_Armguards.html

Am looking for something a little softer, to avoid damaging the finish... which is damaging me I'll have a look at the links over lunch. joeystrange
I pretty much always wear two sweatbands. I much prefer thin ones to the big fluffy type ones and all the double-wide ones seem to be the fluffy kind so I've stuck with two. Failing everything else, the singer in my band used to use socks...
I forgot to take a hoody off before a gig last year - 30 mins later and I felt like I'd spent 3 hours in the gym. I think I sweated down to a boxing weight Some good suggestions here - seems like I've got the option of dropping into Boots for some medical support; JD, or somesuch; for some simple sweats; or diving into one of York's multitudinous bike shops. Thanks for the help, lads. Wondered if it was a silly question!
buff
I found double length ones on ebay a while, but for year's just used a normal size one that i cut the seam on so it was longer.
TheGreek
I use a sports wrist support when I play - some of the stuff in the links look a much better/ more suitable than what I'm currently using...

thisnameistaken
When I got swollen tendons the NHS gave me wrist braces - basically velcro'd long gloves with a steel insert to keep the wrist straight. The insert was removable to make the fabric washable. You can buy them online in slightly less NHS colours - like this.
