Jean-Luc Pickguard
After owning it for a few months, I have finally got around to rolling the lower edge of the fingerboard on my Squier Jaguar short scale using the 'stubby screwdriver' technique - compress the wood between each pair frets with the side of the blade to round of the edge. This instantly made it feel like a more expensive bass. Who else does this to their basses & what's your technique?
Doctor J
Yup, done it for years, to the point I find it almost uncomfortable to use those crazily sharp edges on your average fretboard. Someone call health and safety! I use a small flat file to to the basic rounding and then a couple of fine grades of sandpaper to smooth the whole thing. I do both sides though, for tone. tommorichards
I just grabbed a sanding block and sandpaper and went to town. Smoothed it off with an abrasive sponge pad. Feels awesome. Havent tried it on a finished neck though, but i agree, turned a cheap MM copy neck into something almost like a real one.
kevin_lindsay
I have rolled the fingerboard edges on almost every Nass and guitar of every bass and guitar I've owned. Only bass I haven't needed to donut on is my Fender Custom Shop 1961 Jazz Bass.
