RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I like music that shocks, (death metal etc). Browsed through YouTube , and watched a few bits from the above . I must say , although' I'm at the age where I've 'seen it all' , the sound is very weak , and there is more meat on morrissey. A friend of mine, asked me about cradle of filth,. Saw one or 2 vids, but the. Bass is nonexistent or something. The local butcher has more meat on his apron. At least with some of the older bands, there was more power! What do you think? Quote
Doctor J Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Ghost are very consciously going for a classic rock rather than a metal sound, overdriven guitars rather than distorted. Give it a bit of time, I hated them at first but I think the album is actually pretty catchy. It's a cheese-fest lyrically but even so I've grown to like them and the scooby doo imagery Quote
Doctor J Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 COF are three pounds of sh*te in a two pound bag, however. Quote
discreet Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Now there's a band name and motto right there! SCOOBY-DOO CHEESE FEST 'Three pounds of sh*te in a two-pound bag' Quote
RhysP Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Is this Ex UFO & Lonestar guitarist Paul "Tonka" Chapman's band Ghost you're referring to or is there another band now going by that name? Quote

KingBollock Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nothing wrong with Cradle of Filth! Cruelty and the Beast and Thornography are two of my all time favourite albums. I know they're not Death/Black Metal, but if you like some meat in your music, Sabaton have plenty. And lyrically brilliant and moving, even though it's mostly about war. Quote
skankdelvar Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 "Waiter! There's some meat in my music." "Not so loud, Sir. Everybody will want some." Quote
Graham Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I really like Ghost, not as good as some other doom outfits, but can see why they have a lot of appeal - like Black Sabbath playing Metallica riffs. Cradle however, are pish. Quote
