I'd probably lean toward the Lakland, but personally if I was in the market for a P, I'd probably go for a Fender Classic 50's; best P-bass I've ever played! risingson Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 I think you get more bang for your buck with a Lakland (those Bob Glaubs are fantastic), although if you're keen on the Fender then look at a Japanese made one perhaps. I wouldn't invest my money in U.S Fenders anymore, I don't believe they're worth even close to what the asking price is, and I speak as someone who's owned a few. dave_bass5 Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) As much as i love Lakland's (i even have a JO neck on my Squier) i felt the BG nut width made it a bit uncomfortable to play. Saying that i know a lot of people like those slightly wider P necks, i believe the 50s P is the same so i think its going to be down to what you prefer/condition of the basses etc. I'd say a 2006 Lakland could have a Fralin in it, if so thats a good one to have.
