More Reggae/Rock if you ask me, but these guys are one of the best local bands i've ever heard, seen them a few times and they never fail to put on a brilliant show, with some absolutely brilliant song titles too. They've become pretty popular around here, because nobody from Wigan seems to have heard anything that isn't rock, pop or mc (Is it really music?) before.

Fuuny this lot used to be classed as a Reggae outfit. Love the rawness they had, a bit of poke to it even nowadays.

Lol, :) As soon as I saw the topic title I thought of this, even before I saw you had selected it. I play it all the time as a warm up.

I've never heard of him/them but really enjoyed those tracks, especially the first one.

Yeah, they're still quite low key, but they're working their way up. Hanson is a great bassist, and i love the tone he's got from that Warwick of his. Some of their other stuff is brilliant, definately one to watch if you ever see them around anywhere.

BOUNCY!!!

They may not be the best reggae lines in the world but they bounce nicely and surely that's what reggae is all about?

The much maligned UB40 (who I generally cannot stand) kicked off with a really good double A-sided single King/Food for Thought. The latter has a really nice bass line. Link below:

Good choice. Not an obvious reggae bassline either, more slides than usual?

Way to resurrect a thread - nice one!
Some current favourites:

And this one is so simple, but has a great bounce, and fits so nicely with the guitar skank

Don't ask me about the weird video for that!

re. UB40 - the majority of the Signing Of album is great music with superb basslines IMO

More reggae greatness:

Firstly, some not-too-subtle innuendo from Max Romeo:

And some superb British reggae:

Produced by Sly and Robbie, this Black Uhuru song is perfect for a hot day. This starts with very a simple yet effective bassline in G♭m, just the 1,3,4 and 5, on each beat - lovely
