Clarky
Just a reminder that my recently joined nu-folk/blues/flamenco (!) band play 93 feet east in Brick Lane, London next Momday. We are the act before headliners, onstage at c.9.30pm for 30-40 minutes. Entrance free and Brick lane boasts a ton of curry houses for those with a liking for spicy food! http://www.93feeteas...Date=2012-04-30 And here's a vid that was done prior to my arrival (music starts after a minute) Edited April 24, 2012 by Clarky

BigRedX
Enjoy the gig Clarky! The stage is nice and big and the PA sounds decent (or at least it does for rock bands) however the subs do somewhat obstruct the front of the stage... Clarky
Thanks Mike, boy that sub arrangement is in the way - but ideal for your front man!!!!!
BigRedX
At least they expect that people will use it as part of the performance area - it's been carpeted on top. I've played in venues with similar if not so intrusive speaker arrangements where it was supposed to be assumed that they were not part of the stage. Never stopped Mr Venom though... Silvia Bluejay
Argh. Too far, and in any case I'm booked for an evening at the Science Museum tonight. But please Clarky, keep us posted with your future gigs, hoping they're a bit closer to home - would love to see you guys play! All the best for tonight. Clarky
Thanks! Actually we have two more gigs in the next 8 days Land of Kings festival in Dalston (E. London) next Saturday (5 May) Bull & Gate, Kentish Town a week Wednesday (9 May) BTW, I've still not rehearsed the set with the band yet! So far I've had an audition, a gig, two rehearsals for a studio recording of five songs, and then the recording session on Saturday. Learning by doing!!! Silvia Bluejay
LOL sounds weird, but possibly fun! I'm sure you'll be fine. Might try with Kentish Town, but I'm not sure of my schedule for next week yet. We'll see. In any case, do keep us posted!

Clarky
Just back. Was going so well until the penultimate song when the guitarist broke a string and - with no help from the stroppy sound engineer whose only comment was to point out we were 10 minutes over our allotted slot (not our fault, the earlier bands overran) - had to borrow a guitar from another band and then we found this had a faulty jack socket. We muddled through that song and then we had to abandon the final song as my bass then also started to cut out (coincidence, hmmm). Oh well, the first five songs went really well and we will be better prepared for next Saturday's gig (guitarist will be bringing his spare guitar and I will bring extra cables, just in case)
