HI
I have a rack mounted DI, and would like to know if i can plug my Bass into this with a standard guitar lead, then take a short speaker lead out from this to my amp input.

I only ask as i have one lying around and would need to buy a new short patch lead if not.

cheers

I would go for a patch lead. While a speaker lead will carry the signal with no problems, the lack of screening will make it prone to hum.

Generally, all leads before the power amp should be screened.

Won't do any harm to give it a try, but even if it's OK at home you'll always be worrying about interference if/when you play in a different location.

Not to be recommnended really.

it'll work, but it might not sound the best. It's safer to do it this way round than to use a bass lead as a speaker lead.

Thanks Dave, I will bare that in mind.
I have used the new amps DI straight to my headphone monitor and it sounds good, so I'm sorted at the moment.
It's weird theamp DI on my older Mesa Fathom had a lot of hiss, but since Mesa Boogie replaced it with a new M6 all is good.
Cheers
