Which iPhone Music Interface?

There seem to be so many of these now since i had my 3GS stolen a couple years ago!

What's best for bass at the moment? iRig? Peavey? Apogee? iRiffport?

Recommendations please

You must have GarageBand.

Ive tired a few interfaces and think Apogee JAM is one of the best, certainly better than the headphone input type. Latency and signal level is greatly improved over something like the iRig.
Garage band is great but for just practising along with tracks i love AmpKit. I found this to be the best as far as control over the tone, and the ability to play along with tracks without having to import them.
They recently released a Trace Elliot head for it and i feel this is the best head so far (Bass amps seem to be lacking with all these amp sim apps).
I also have the GK one, although i have the paid for version as it has the EQ section. I just dont really like the GK tone at the moment so dont use it.

Everyone should have GarageBand, its a jack of all trades and master of some. Considering the amount of instruments and amps it comes with i would expect it to sell for a lot more than it does.

Whatever you do don't get the new(ish) Line6 interface - even though it uses the 30pin connector and does sound great, the interface just doesn't stay put but comes out at the slightest touch.

Apogee Jam gets my vote, hands down the best I've tried.

Tascam IU2 certainly seems miles ahead in terms of features, but its hardly an iRig in terms of simplicity.....

The Apogee seems very expensive for what it is, is it actually worth it?

To me the Apogee is definitely worth it, the sound quality is superb. Agree that vs the others it is more expensive, but then again I've probably spent much more on pedals that don't see anyway near the use the Apogee does. The Tascam looks intriguing though.

Yes, the Apogee is more expensive and I personally dont think it's worth it in terms of what it is and it's build quality. Saying that it is worth getting something that will do the job and after having the iRig (twice) I felt spending the extra to get something I felt was usable was worth it and I find I use it a lot more because the sound quality and latency doesn't put me off.

For me the Tascam is overkill but I guess if you do expect to do a lot of multi intramental recording it might be worth it.

Apogee Jam is now compatible with Amplitube on the iPhone / iPad - the new functionality came with the latest update. Wahay!

I have the iRig and it's a bit noisy. I use it with amplitube mainly on the iPad, with the 8 track recorder add-on. The main, killer, problem with is is that sound leaks. My main usage of it is to record myself playing over a song from my library. I transpose the underlying song into one track, then record myself on another. When I listen back, the backing track is audible on my recording track. I've read of problems relating to sound leaking between the input and output, so I assume it's that. I think the iRig is suitable if you're looking for a cheap adapter and don't want to record other tracks, or don't care about them bleeding together.

Think I'll get the apogee jam.
