RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Is there a setting that boosts the output ? The. output is low when trying to connect with another device. Cheers
BOD2
How are you connecting the iPad - from the headphone socket or the Apple dock connector ? Experience with iPods (not iPads) has shown that the best way to connect one to another audio device (e.g. a mixer) is to use a cable with the Apple dock connector at one end and two RCA phono connectors at the other end. If you connect to the headphone jack then the output will often be very low.
Dood
Indeed, purchase a lead that is described as connecting to the 'line outs' on the apple dock. You'll get a stronger 'direct out' signal. You could, if you wish purchase an audio interface designed to give you a stronger output signal, as well as also including other 'inpit' facilities. BigRedX
If iOS is like Mac OS then there will be two level controls affecting the output - one for the overall volume of the device and one for the output level within the app. Make sure both are turned up. RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
You may have seen my other posts related to this. I purchased a y cable. The idea being, to put irig in iPad , then from the headphone out socket of irig , put y cable to The line in sockets of my line 6 toneport. Ux1 . I will turn output of apps up as suggested above. Will let you know later , but if you have any other ideas please let me know. Thanx for replies so far,)
BOD2
It sounds like using the headphone socket as the output is the main issue. The headphone socket is optimised to drive headphones which have a different impedance than the inputs on most other devices so there's a slight mismatch there. RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Well, I connected the irig into the headphone socket as I'm supposed to do. From the headphone socket, the y cable was connected to the line inputs of the line 6ux1 . Still the same, after turning volume of iPad and apps to max. However, on the monitor input of the ux1, the sound is much better , but only from 1 speaker ,unless I only put jack I also tried the above without irig. Wonder if it's worth asking a genius at apple? Edited April 28, 2012 by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Just found out the answer: I need to export files from the apps by following the menu. Thesewill be sent to GarageBand or logic on my mac mini. Then I open and all should be well. Will try this week Cheers
