Stop my nut rattling - please

I recently bought a very old P-bass, which came to me with Fender flatwounds. I replaced those with La Bella FL's which are rather lighter gauge, and the A and D strings both rattle slightly in the nut. It's far more noticeable unplugged than amplified, and it's hardly a significant issue, but I'd like to do something about it.

Granted that I really do not want to replace the nut, are there any quick & simple fixes for this?

I'm strangely attracted by Dom's utterly minimalist approach:

Another option - loosen strings and lay a strip of PTFE tape (or as many strips as needed) on the nut, under the strings and tune to pitch.... carefully cut of any excess.

Saves wasting good rizla ;)
