Anyone here play in a Stoner/Desert rock band? Looking for some new bands to listen to.

I'm guessing you've already listened to the usual names (truckfighters, earthless, qotsa, etc etc)

I do very much want to join a band like this though

I quit one 6 months ago - Crybaby Deathmatch. Their current bassist will be moving overseas soon so they will be looking again soon! They are London based though Wooks so might be a bit far.

But if you just want some new stuff to listen to have you checked out Acid King?

Been through most of the bigger names and needed something fresh. Listening to Undersmile a lot lately. More sludge/doom than stoner but they still have a nice desert vibe going on in places.

Monolithian are another great band who deserve a listen. A power duo of heavy dirty bass and pounding drums.

I have formed countless of stoner type bands that then change into something entirely different. The latest one is looking promising.

I generally just go to Heavy Planet to find new bands. Over Christmas I got seriously into a US band called Elder. Stoner with old school prog/psychedelic tendencies. Generally I find at least one cool band a month.

Bass guitar seems to be particularly prominent in stoner rock, what with OM and the stoner-esque Death From Above 1979.

Happen to know what the amp is in the pic? Looks kinda like the Thor I sold to Rose Kemp. Kinda wished I'd had a look inside it first, they are very rare.

Just spoken to Jack. It is a Thor that he bought from a chap in Brighton that apparently came from a bunch that were discovered in an industrial unit in Milton Keynes a while ago.
