tonyf
Jumping on the recent "isolated bass track" threads, just found this after following the YouTube suggested links. We do this in one of my covers bands but TBH, I'd never thought it was as busy as it is. A lot of the arrangement covers just how amazing the playing is. Think I need to do a little more to my "interpretation" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr3HCNIgv40&feature=related
discreet
A bit too busy if you ask me! Very much of it's time, though (1982)... thanks for posting.
jakenewmanbass
whatever you think of the band the music or the bassline... He plays it very well, good solid time and I think a good feel too.
BB3000S
Very well executed, a great listen down nostalgia lane - John Taylor was one reason (Jonas Hellborg the other) that I got an Aria SB as my first bass. Remember sitting in my room trying to figure this one out, oh well those were the days... Thanks for posting!

lurksalot
Cant fault that dude , 'cept your even uglier than I am . great tune well played , I got close to getting close once , but why oh why don't the band get more musical acclaim . I am sure they got gold, platinum albums etc , but they could sing and play really well , I loved em and thought live, really rocked . Grand Wazoo
Lets not forget Girls on Film also had a very busy bass line, here it is isolated. Lozz196
Great stuff. Very interesting how a not very nice bass sound (on both tracks) on its own, sounds so good once in the mix.
Gust0o
Great stuff - as noted, it's definitely of it's vintage. Way busier than I would ever have made it, but such were the times.

Hobbayne
Root fifth octaves were all the rage back then!!
chardbass
Lol. This was an audition piece I played back in '86- this and Big Money by Rush. Needless to say my repertoire was a bit limited but joking aside John Taylor taught me about ghost notes way before I knew who Jjaco was. noelk27
Taylor started as guitarist, although not sure that has much to do with how "busy" his lines were on the early Duran albums. In the first version of Duran, however, before Simon le Bon and Andy Taylor joined, the sound was made up of drum machine, synths, bass and vocals (although original vocalist Stephen Duffy contributed some guitar), which may have something to do with things. JTUK
I think it is pretty clean and precise and mixes up well, but it is the kind of track and tone that exposes everything so you really have to be right on the money with it on solo playback. This is the type of example you will find 'helpful' engrs relish playing back to you.
