Kiwi
the queue starts behind me CK
Jon dropped me an email last night to say he's finally managed to finish the finishing. He says the bass looks gorgeous. It doesn't sound like he's put it together yet though, I will try to drop by on Friday and see it in the flesh. I'm hoping I can pick it up but I'm not holding my breath.

Stylon Pilson
Could you also ask him how he's getting on with mine? It's the one with the lime green fingerboard and the genuine badgerskin pickguard. S.P.

He was answering his mobile this morning so it might be worth giving him a call perhaps?

Veils
Getting so close now! 2 coats of satin lacquer left to apply which apparently doesn't take long, then it's just a case of waiting for the hardware to be stuck on then it's there! Kiwi
I held this bass last week, before the lacquer went on. Its very comfy and reasonably light. i'd be very happy with it if it were mine.
Veils
Glad you liked it dude It is pretty light which is a good thing because I like to move about on stage. I'm totally itching to get it
Veils
Right I have an email from Jon this morning. It says that the bass just needs the hardware adding and we are finished. I am hoping that this can be done for the weekend when I am in the area, but soon as it is done I will have pics up here and hopefully some sound clips of me pretending I can play it

Born 2B Mild
I'm edging closer to commissioning Mr Shuker, based on the fact that a year wait will give me a chance to save for it!

Veils
It's well worth it. His basses are absolutely brilliant. I was offered endorsements through Warwick and Spector with 50% discounts and to me, it still made more sense to get Jon to build mine. There is the luxury of having the time to wait to save the cash and not to mention the fact that the bass is built totally to your spec. When you add to that the fact that his work is second to nothing that I personally have comapred it to, it's a no brainer. Also Jon is an absolutely top bloke and totally helpful and isn't afraid to take on a challenge. For instance he informed me that he had never done an LED backlit headstock before, but was more than happy to do it on mine. Seriously, if you are thinking about going with Jon, either go to his workshop or contact someone in your area to arrange to have a play. It's well worth your time
thedontcarebear
I always like the finishes on Shuker basses, they did almost make me choose him over ACG.

Veils
I can honestly say that I have never really felt the need to big any manufacturers up and I have used Warwick, Spector, Status, Sandberg, Peavey, Musicman, Gibson and Fender in either live or studio situation. A possible exception is Sandberg - but I am not prepared to do that due to a feud with Synergy Distribution. I don't think Jon particularly needs me to do it for him as he seems to have a strong reputation and I have heard pretty much nothing negative about his work. However when I very first sat in Jon's workshop and had a play on some of his stock I was sold straight away. His basses are incredible, the options are so broad, he is such a nice guy and his prices are very competitive. I am so proud to be involved with what he does and I would strongly urge anyone who is thinking about splashing out on something nice to go to Jon. There is good competition out there and I really like the look of what Alan at AC is doing - in fact I have spoken with him and do intend to own one of his basses at some point. High fives for Jon.
