New Year is going to be good. I know that there is a guitar (I know, I know) coming from the workshop soon also! Fairly loaded and of original design. I'm looking forward to seeing it for one... but then again, I like seeing anything from all these custom luthiers out there!
bass_ferret
Gonna be having a proper chat with the man soon. Gonna fret the black one and get a new fretless with snakewood FB. Not sure about colour yet but I dont think the snakewood will look right with black.

I am thinking of moving mine on and placing an order later in the year for one to my spec depending on the job situation etc etc!! Bernie will be busy next year I reckon. Gunsfreddy2003
Just wanting to kick on with my Rumour as we are still stuck on the fingerboard! I missed a call from Bernie on 23rd and have not managed to catch up with him since. Can't wait to finalise the fingerboard and get it all finished. Any idea how long it takes to get the lacquer on and the bass finished once all the wood is chosen? Gunsfreddy2003
Well yes or something similar - I would just like to see lots of figuring in the fingerboard and cocobola seems to fit the bill! Bernie says he can do it - so just need to try and agree it all. What is on the Gabbie fingerboard? [quote name='EBS_freak' post='368762' date='Jan 2 2009, 07:40 PM']About 3 months. Nah. Only joking. My basses were pretty much guided by Bernie - he knows the wood and I put a lot of trust in him. That's just me. When he showed me the woods for Gabbie, I couldn't see the final thing - it turned out better than I could ever have thought though.

Gunsfreddy2003
Just too confusing! I like you, have been led by Bernie on this build and it was his opinion that persuaded me away from the maple fingerboard on a Rumour! I will speak to him next week and see if he can come up with a suitable alternative. Just want it to look as sexy as possible. bass_ferret
I think your bass will be just fine, and a bit of lemon oil will bring out the figuring. You are just letting the comments in BGM get to you

If they were, they would have picked up the fact that the nut cut for the B string on the Wood n Tronics is far too close to the edge On the subject of that particular head shot, don't you think that the way that the strings lie is a ) ugly as sin b ) bad practice as its better for the string to lie as straight through the nut as possible. Anyway, back to the issue on hand, don't worry about it! Edited January 3, 2009 by EBS_freak

I dont think it would look right. I still like my solid colours and dont think you need a figured top and fingerboard, but it is the hardness of the wood for a fretless that is tempting me rather than it looking pretty. Its gonna take a while getting the colour right. I'm thinking dark orange at the moment and Bernie has suggested a sunburst. My other thought is to go contrast with the black one and do olympic white.

I still think that white is the ultimate colour for a stage bass so that may work out pretty good. Have you seen the colour of Dr Bob's telecaster? That's a pretty cool looking white. Dark Orange may work...
phsycoandy
Just an aside and not porn at al, but I've been playing my 69 Jazz for the last couple of months, but sold it this week and went back to the GB, did an audition tonight and remembered how bl@@dy good they are, why do I keep buying other makes. 5 string Rumour or Spifire next.............. Oh I got thru the audition by the way, new covers band, got sacked by the fledgling U2 band cause I lacked commitment and wasnt a true U2 fan, and I've left the other band that had gone into freefall, for the new guys. Thats my day, hows yours been! Edited January 8, 2009 by phsycoandy

I'm freezing here! What sort of gigs you doing out there? Just so that the post has some GB content... I just been having a quick slap on my Rumour 4. Mike Brooks
Actually, it's very good and very safe, we're over 200 miles away from the conflict, playing in a Western/English bar that stays open very late so most people end up there during the evening. Having a blast, kept my GB's at home though. Mike
