Russ
I miss my GB. I want it back. It was actually up on eBay last year, but I missed out on it... didn't have the spare cash. On the plus side, Bernie says he still has the plans for my one (it was quite a different shape to a regular Rumour, both the body and the headstock) and he could make me another. Russ
Keeping with the GB porn motif, here's a few pics of my old, much-missed one. I think you'll agree it's pretty different to any other GB out there.... Nice piece of facia wood there...[/quote] I designed the body shape myself, based on a body design that I designed previously for an older custom bass. I worked with Bernie to refine the design a bit, and it ended up working really well - the longer top horn made the bass have better balance, especially considering the very light ash in the body, and the additional weight on the headstock... which brings me to... The headstock is shaped like that to accommodate two (!) Hipshots on the B and E strings - at the time, I was using various different tunings in the band I was in, and I wanted to be able to use one bass for everything. It actually worked too, although the headstock went through a couple of redesigns.

Gunsfreddy2003
I have just put an order in for a GB Spitfire and am now feeling very enthused about the project having looked at these pics! I was down at Bernie's and saw "The Angel" when it was just a body with no electrics and etc and "in the white" ie no colour to the wood at all. I thought it would look good then but have to say that now it looks absolutely fantastic! I want one just like that!! The funny thing is, everybody who has seen that bass, wants one like it. With wood like that, its pretty difficult finding anything remotely close! You'll love your GB. Gunsfreddy2003
I will do - I have only just placed the order (last week) and understand that it could take up to 5 months to build. EBS_freak
You'd get something nice for 2k (I'll be less cryptic than andy) Obviously, the custom nature of these instruments means that the price is dictated by a number of things. If you start talking really exotic woods, multi-laminates, front and back fascias, laminated headstock, the full electronics package, with LEDs... things start getting expensive but there is nothing else like a GB in the world. I think I have some videos of Laurence Cottle giving that particular bass a seeing to. I'll see if I can find the videos out.
