Whats the text on the headstock? Quote

BB
Yup - when the production moved to Lowden in Ireland, obviously the wording had to change... Nice example with a fairly low serial. Quote

Jeff Beck is in town... and so on Tuesday, me and the man dropped off some EBS gear into a rehearsal studio in London for a certain well known bass playing lady. Saw the new GB van - it's a sleek, black, mean machine (I'll get a photo up here if anybody is interested - you won't miss that thing with all the GB logos on it!). Anyway, the traffic in London is a nightmare... glad I'm not based there! Today, the crew are playing their first gig of the tour at the Dome in Brighton. Sell out crowd - and I know that a certain Jimmy Page and Gary Moore were there. (Sorry Jimmy for nearly taking you out when getting out of my car). Brum tomorrow... we'll have to see what that brings. Anyway, just a short note to say that Tal Wilkenfeld has taken delivery of her new GB Spitfire 4... and you know what...? She loves it... (She thought the lights of my Rumour 5 were a laugh too!) ...that's enough for now, I need my sleep! Stay tuned campers
Ok, that's it, I'm now officially very jealous. Keep your hands off my Tal! I'll be in Manchester on Saturday...... Edited June 25, 2009 by 4000 Quote

NJE Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 This is one of my favourite threads at the moment as I have some serious serious GAS for GB spitfire. Anyway firstly very jealous about the whole Tal thing but sadly I am more excited about the GB VAN! can we see some pictures???? Cheers Nathan Quote

I expect it to a bit like the A team van but with a sporty finish and some nice alloys, and maybe Bernie Goodfellow hanging out the side with some bling around his neck and a mohawk! (gone a bit too far i think, office work does that to a man) Many thanks. Quote

budget bassist Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 any of you guys know about this guitar at all? It's supposedly a bernie goodfellow explorer, but i wasn't aware he made guitars. Though if it is what it's claimed to be, then it seems very very cheap! The signature on the headstock is correct for starters... I could be wrong, but he was signing headstocks like that in the phase inbetween Lowden era Goodfellow and GB. (1991/2ish?) Quote
budget bassist Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Ahh cool, so is it just me or is £275 a mental price for this? I'm not thinking of buying, i just thought it seemed a good deal for something with his name on, considering the prices his basses fetch! Quote

budget bassist Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 yeah, in fairness it seems a lot of guitar for the money, regardless of who's name is on it, someone buy it Quote

EBS_freak Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 OK, I've got word back from the man... despite the signature being similar to his, he's not sure whether he did make this. He said, "If I did, it would have been at least 20 years ago and probably on my kitchen table." "Or I was probably on drugs because it was meant to be a Les Paul" Go figure. Quote
EBS_freak Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) Bernies been in contact with me again. He remembers now... He was on drugs... And so was the guy who strung the guitar it seems... Edited June 27, 2009 by EBS_freak Quote
budget bassist Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) haha, so he did make it then? And the strings look ok to me... you string guitars up differently ya know, in case you don't play guitar? Edited June 27, 2009 by budget bassist Quote

If you follow the strings from the nut, they should be going anticlockwise around the pegs... Edited June 29, 2009 by EBS_freak Quote
