My gb spitifre 4 string came in the post today! and oh my god, why havent i tried these earlier...

Straight out of the box it looks phenomenal with its quilted maple top, birdseye maple fingerboard and green leds :)
And after a little tweak of the truss and the action, and the pickup height it practically plays itself!
The tone controls are just amazing and i can get a lot of tones without much fiddling, also love little aspects of the design, like the 3d bridge and where the strap button is positioned for balance, just a great great instrument...

anyway enough rambling on and on, heres a couple of pictures, let me know what you think....

hope your all well...

EBS without a doubt - its what Bernie develops the circuit with. HD350 or TD650 or the Reidmar if you want cheaper. See if you can get a proline cab too.

+1

I bought my first EBS rig via Bernie after testing it with a Spitfire 5. A GB bass through an EBS amp sounds incredible.

Got to agree with the folks who recommend EBS - I found another dimension when I swapped my Markbass for a HD350 - my Rumour sounds like a completely different beast now...I think Deaver still has a rig up for sale..

See Mark, I'm not sure whether I'm envious of you or not...you have to choose between something like this...or the Thuya on the website...decisions, decisions, eh???

Of course the photos do not do the basses justice and as we all know they're not for looking at, they're for playing...and they sound great through my EBS rig (as recommended by Bernie and EBS Freak...

Bah. My old GB Rumour 5 is up for sale on eBay again (custom body shape, twin Hipshots, LEDs, etc), and I don't have the money to buy it... I think someone here should get it and give it a good home. :)

I have just accidentally found these guys, they are called Fresh Steps and they have an album out. I am loving it, an album of Jazzy covers of pop tunes. They cover Price Tag by Jessie J, I loathe that song but just listened to their version 4 times........I want a GB now. The website is here for anyone interested and they have a few tracks on there and youtube: http://www.freshstepsuk.com/freshsteps/music.html

Hello to all...

I've now received confirmation from the man himself, Bernie Goodfellow, that is indeed one of his early "pre" Spitfire designs...circa 1992 or so...possibly 1995.

I've also confirmed, there is no serial number but as you can see by the photo's, this one is signed B J Goodfellow in pencil in the rear pickup cavity and it looks like, with a grease pen on the head stock... then sealed and finished.

I've had a chance to take more photo's of this GB Bass and please, enjoy these until I mooch a decent camera and take some much better "staged" shots.

Cheers,

BBQ Bob
