Probably a stupid question! Steve
The pickguard is a really tight fit around the neck pickup... hence no need for screws... although if you really wanted it screwed down... birdy
Yea I noticed the picture of the white one above with the Tort guard in has screws after I posted. Must admit I am a sucker for a pickguard personally. Steve

bass_ferret
Bernie has been known to stick them on with double sided tape - scratchplates that is. My red one is screwed on though but its a lot bigger than the normal ones.
darbs
i am seriously GASing for a GB! thinkin a white spitfire with blue LED's or a black spitfire with purple LED's. i love the tone and look but everyone is very hush hush about the price so come on guys spill the beans....how much we talkin here? ? ? ? Edited December 14, 2008 by darbs
bass_ferret
My Black Spitfire with side LED's was £1800. But it was a few years ago. A lot depends on the spec and you can easy get to £5K for a Rumour with exotic woods, full LED show etc.

Gunsfreddy2003
As soon as I get mine I will post pictures I promise! A mate of mine is a pro photographer and I am going to ask him to do the honours as soon as I get the Rumour down here. If you follow the link below you can see the pics he took of my Warwick to help me sell it. www.mattbrodie.com/thumbbass Mark
James - don't forget to add your latest addition on Tuesday! Gunsfreddy2003
Just received the following pics from Bernie. Was hoping that it would be ready between xmas and new year but that seems unlikely now!! I am looking at other fingerboards as I think this one looks a little plain! The facings on the body look lovely when they are "wetted down" believe me. As soon as I have a better idea of completion date I will let you all know. Cheers Mark
James - don't forget to add your latest addition on Tuesday! The figure is going to pop like mad when that body is polyed and polished up. The before and after when my Rumour was done was unbelievable! Don't worry - this one is going to be ready pretty quickly... I saw James' before it's shape was cut and finished... and literally just a couple of weeks later it's ready! It's close!! It looks like it's been another good year for walnut GBs!
EBS_freak
Just thought I would share a picture of another Rumour that is doing the rounds at the moment... and that's of Matt Harris of the band Stiff Dylans. Those complete anorak GB fans will have noticed that his GB Rumour was features in the film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging". Those of us that haven't, probably don't go around watching films for teenage girls. Anyway, attached is a couple of closeups of Matt and his bass from the recent Stiff Dylans tour. And here's the links to the videos. Gunsfreddy2003
Thanks for the kind words - yes the bookmatching is fantastic isn't it! I finally sold my Warwick Thumb on the 'bay on Sunday so I am pretty much gagging for the Rumour now - the fingerboard is my only worry and I am hoping to speak to Bernie about this today. If any of you have seen the 5 string shoot out in this month's BGM you may have noticed the cocobolo fingerboard on the Wood & Tronics bass? That would be my ideal!!! Not sure if Bernie can get that and even if he could what that would push the price up to! It would be good if I could make the trip over to get the bass before I go back to work on Jan 5th though - fingers crossed! Nice shots of the GB in the video - never heard of the band but the bass looks nice! EBS_freak
So tell... how do you find the Spitfire compared to the Rumour? Two different beasts eh? And you have gone for single coils in the Spitfire right? Spanky!

Gunsfreddy2003
Well yes - only because it looks nice!! You may recall that I went through the dilemma of trying to decide between a maple fingerboard and a dark wood fingerboard - I only ever wanted blistered maple as I love wood with figuring/burr in it. The cocobola fingerboard in the magazine has to be the most highly figured dark wood fingerboard I have ever seen!! Do you think that it would be a bad idea? If you want to add something more fancy Bernie does have some snake wood (or is it lizard wood ) but expect it to cost a fair bit extra. Maybe you should have stuck to your guns with the maple. Dont forget maple can be stained before it is lacquered.
