joeystrange
Picked up a 1998 Ampeg SVT CL yesterday. Sounds incredible although I haven't had chance to put it through my 8x10 yet. I've seen a few of these amps before and the logo put me off for a while but I figured it doesn't really matter, at the end of the day. It's pretty heavy by itself but in the flight case it's just ridiculous! Anyway, I'm happy with it. Looking forward to trying it out properly at a gig next weekend! Lozz196
Nice, if I could only lift and carry gear like that.............
dmccombe7
Does it come with a sack barra for transporting and free membership to a local gym. Tried lifting one of these few yrs ago and they are a tad on the heavy side. Great sound though and i guess that's what counts. All the best with it. Icunningham
it would be awesome if you could do a youtube demo of it rather than listening to the americans talk rather than the amp
gub
Very nice!
joeystrange
it would be awesome if you could do a youtube demo of it rather than listening to the americans talk rather than the amp
I can't play at any reasonable kind of volume at home, unfortunately. I did notice that there are surprisingly few demos of this amp online though. Just the heritage model. I think I actually might have to join the gym too! Pow_22
This is my all time dream amp!
4 Strings
Loverlee. Let us know how you get on with it in anger. Probably take a month to get used to it properly though. This is pro gear, don't see proper SVTs at pub gigs too often. You know its going to sound immense, they do! Just not so popular with band mates come loading/unloading time! Which bit of the logo, the red V?
joeystrange
I think it might take a little while to get used to it. I'll be using it properly for the first time on Sunday but it's an all day gig with 15 minute change overs so I might not have a lot of time to get it sounding just right until the next rehearsal. I just didn't like the whole 'cartoony' look of the logo, the colour included. It's the sound that counts though!
Pow_22
Just remember to leave it on stand-by as soon as you get there to let the valves warm up properly. Cant beat the sound of a nice warm valve! When im using my sound city at gigs i often get the early, set my rig up andc just leave it on stand by while i have a few drinks and wait for the band to arrive, by the time i hit the first note its usually been on for an hour (probbaly overkill but sounds immense!) cocco
I had the later one. It was the biggest pain in the arse ever. It used to eat valves and melt valve sockets and no one liked working on it, but what a tone!
