Roland Rock
UJahm are a Nottingham based reggae band. We seem to have moved away from the rootsier style and towards an edgier 'urban' style with poppy, dubby and dancehall flavours. Not everyone's cup of tea, but many people really dig it. "The music is reminiscent of old school reggae but the band have their own distinctive twist that they put on the genre. Sudden beat switches, funky syncopated basslines combined with the singers' strong vocals leave the venue with a lasting impression." - LeftLion.co.uk "Nottingham’s answer The Specials, UJahm will give you some Jamaican and British Ska influenced Reggae. The energetic beats from Neckie, Chris and Kamrah perfectly compliment the sultry vocals that Shylaah provides, to create Reggae vibes that’ll make you want to jump around. Other inspirations for these guys range from Roots Reggae, to Dub, Soul, Hip Hop, and even Drum and Bass" Nusic.org.uk Please see last post on the thread for latest gig details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq2A7M8XbU0 Edited August 25, 2015 by Roland Rock

Roland Rock
We had a really fun gig. The place was small and busy with a very positive and receptive atmosphere. Of course there were mistakes, but overall we're happy to have our first gig out of the way, and with lots of cheers and positive feedback. Good to meet BigRedX too, who managed to politely disguise his disdain for Fenders :-) it was good to meet you and have a chat BRX. A good night. BigRedX
*grin* actually I think it was because I was just amazed that you could actually play a bass with so much hardware covering the strings... Pretty damn good performance for a debut gig too.

Good job I don't have a scooter
Really pleased it went well, hope you get to London at some point!
Thanks. The guitarist and I have a fair amount of gigging experience, but the singer had never played live with a band before, and the drummer had never gigged in public (only his school), so we're chuffed it went so well. I'm sure London that will be on the cards at some point. It would be great to meet you.

Skol303
Big fan of ska and reggae here! I have relatives over Leicester way but rarely get over there. If you're ever playing in Manchester or thereabouts then give me a shout - I could happily add a dozen or so punters to your crowd. PS: might be worth checking out this venue - Band On The Wall (you may have heard of it). It's got a great reputation for reggae and other good music, and a very good sound system. I go there whenever I get chance: http://bandonthewall.org/ Edited November 7, 2012 by Skol303
