Grassie
I fancy having a punt on this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Precision-bass-Jim-Deacon-custom-zebra-pickups-and-full-set-up-/190674765505?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c651a06c1 It looks really good for the price and the seller seems quite knowledgable. Does anyone have any experience of these basses?
NancyJohnson
Who is this guy? I see his beardy face virtually every time I visit eBay. P
Ou7shined
He has been brought up before even joined and posted . Go look in the EBAY section. BUT after seeing his 7-6 string conversions I have the impression of being a bodger .
Haha nicely restrained answer dude. When I first saw this thread I thought it was a windup. jezzaboy
Great deal that. But you can buy a brand new Jim Deacon bass from cc music in Glasgow for £129 that hasn`t been "re-furbished" by this guy. I would read the post in the E bay section of the forum before deciding to take a punt on this and make up your own mind. I can`t find the link but it`s there somewhere.
Yeah I bought one minus its electrics off of eBay for £33, Stuck some Squier wiring and pup's in it, it sounded ok and felt sturdy enough (Solid alder body) I never really liked the feel of the neck. Anyway the neck pocket is the right size for a Mighty Mite replacement if you so wish. Trouble with this one is... You can buy brand new and be covered by warranty for £125.00. Ou7shined
For what it's worth, my six string Strat used to be a Jim Deacon... well I say that... all that's left now is the body - the rest has been fully tricked out. I'm very careful with my guitars etc and it didn't take long to pick up knocks, scour marks and chips in the finish, which to be fair I'm not too bothered about it as I generally only use it for recording. I see the seller is trying to convince the Q&A guy that (despite the caveat of not having looked) the body might in fact be maple ... but definitely not mahogany Only 2 unrelated major brands spuriously mentioned in the listing this time...Wa-gwan? Mr. Foxen
Checking the answer to the question there will probably tell you enough.

Grassie
P-bass with limited funds. I'm not in any rush for one, so I'm just scoping out the for sale section on here, plus ebay and my local free ad website. I liked the look of the Deacon....onwards and upwards!
That's a sweet bass. but, yes, it does have to be a P. I have a mexican jazz which I love, and I have seen some good mexican P's recentley, but I'm not sure how much cash I'm going to have until a couple of week's time. Love the fiesta red squier 60's CV P bass, but people seem to be hanging on to them...
