Since it's 54 years old the wear is probably genuine.

Although I still don't get the obsession with Fenders in general. I have a British-made bass that's about 50 years old and isn't worth anything like £8k and shouldn't be anyway.

They had a couple I'd have loved to get my hands on. Took them two and a half weeks to reply, by which time they were sold .

Ok, so the man emails me. As expected, new nut and a re-fret, but the pots have been changed, too! Anyway, pipe-dream bass at that price, and overpriced with it, IMO.
