Squier Help

Morning all,

A Couple of months ago I got my first fretless. A Squier VM Jazz bass. Well, at least that's what I've been told. I'm happy with, a delightful bass indeed. My biggest concern, (well, not so much a concern, but a curiosity) is that it's not a squier one. Either that, or it's been modded or it's a non standard one.

It doesn't really bother me what it is, I still like it. I just want to know. I'm sure there are some of you out there too that just like to know. For the sake of knowing.

So...

According to Fender/Squier, the VM Jazz is as follows:

Whereas my one:

So, is my one just modded? Or something else? The finish looks nothing like the one that's available, the neck looks like it's been forced on (chips and on the back at the heel it looks sanded to fit), the bridge and pickups dont look like the standard ones, obviously there's the second jack socket and scratchplate holes (it came with one one which I removed). The only mod I'm aware of is the straploks.

So, any Squier experts here want to chip in?

could be

With a neck swap.

BUT yours has an extra screw hole in the centre for the pickguard. It doesn't have the Duncan Designed Pups either.

And also these have a huge channel under the pickguard for the wiring, so you can't use them without a pickguard!
