It's been a nostalgic evening of youtube browsing for me, came across Silent Wings of Freedom from Yes - Tormato, which I've not listened to for 15 years or more, still for me one of the strongest songs on that album.
Any idea what fx he's using on the bass for this track?

An Eventide Harmonizer & probably also a Mutron (for the wah type effect).
Squires sound on that album is absolutely wonderful.

That's exactly right, he used the Eventide for the chorus effect (no Boss pedals for Chris! )

Thx! Continuing my Yes nostalogia journey, I've moved on to 'into the lens' now from the Horn/Downes era. Didn't rate the album Drama very highly but always loved this song, easily the strongest from this album.

Chris is definitily using the Eventide Harmoniser fir that deep Chorus effect.

The only way I’ve come close to that Is using two Electro Harmonix bass clone pedals, depth full on, rate on low around 9 - 10 o’clock. Too much rate gives a bit too much modulation.The cross-over switch on should  be up position.
