kevin_lindsay
Well, timesaree hard here in Chez Lindsay, so I'm having to look at moving some of my bass gear. Here's my gorgeous Fender Custom Shop NOS 1961 stack knob Jazz Bass. It is, without doubt, the best Fender Jazz I've ever had the good fortune to play. The neck is quartersawn maple with a finely grained rosewood fingerboard. The neck has the usual narrow nut width, but is slight thicker in depth as you head up the fingerboard. Nothing drastic, just enough to feel a little bit more did than on the standard USA Jazz Basses. The quartersawn maple gives the neck a really solid feel and sounds fantastic - no dead spots anywhere. The pickups are nice and open sounding. The bass comes in the tan case with all the Fender Custom Shop tags and a certificate. £1,500 delivered in the UK Edited May 18, 2012 by kevin_lindsay

binkybongo
- yummy! I've played this bass - it is definitely one of 'Fender's finest' as the CS says. Build and finish is absolutely superb, very punchy sound with lots of range. Never seen one listed before, it's like new, great price, someone will get a real killer bass! kevin_lindsay
I contacted Jeff Krause at the Fender Custom Shop and he was kind enough to sende the original spec sheet for the bass. The colour was custom requested - "chocolate 3TSB" Here's a link to the sheet: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/1510090865/2ce8f659adf9bf2d65f714cb78a66985

kevin_lindsay
The 1961 Custom Shop Jazz Bass was only available in Black or Olympic White in 2011 (and also this year), so the custom ordered "chocolate 3 tone sunburst" finish is a rather rare beast! http://products.fendercustomshop.com/products/search.php?partno=1502110880 Edited May 15, 2012 by kevin_lindsay
