uncle psychosis
Hey folks Anyone got a guide to fitting pickup covers to a precision bass? How many precisions come with the holes pre-drilled? Anyone know which models come with the covers as standard?
KiOgon
I know the American Vintage series, Precision & Jazz both come with Chrome Covers (not fitted) but the holes are drilled in the scratch plate *not the body* for the pickup cover, but no holes drilled for the bridge cover. The Jazz however has a 'paper template' that fit's around the bridge for drilling the bridge cover holes. Sorry that doesn't help a lot but some scratch plates do have the holes in ready for the pickup cover, if you got one of those Cheerz, John
Cat Burrito
Most models don't come with them these days BUT it is actually a very simple thing to do. I've had them on mine for 15yrs (a fair few basses too) and first time around I was nervous about drilling into my pride and joy. So I got a musician mate who was a carpenter to do it. Most music shops will do it for a small fee - it's literally 4 tiny holes so isn't going to cost mega bucks. If you are half way handy with a drill, just go for it. I do my own these days
uncle psychosis
Thanks guys. A precision just isn't right without them!
