rushbo
What a great player he was. No flash, no "party tricks", just elegant, melodic, soulful Basslines. He was an inspiration to generations of musicians.

Buzzy
Realy sad about this, I met him once at the Town and Country club London in 1990. Me and my mate saw Booker T and the MGs and waitied to meet the band. We were allowed into the after gig party and got to chat with all the band . Duck signed my ticket after we had a chat about Fender necks (P v J) and how he missed playing with Al Jackson. Must have been an omen when my amp packed up during my gig last night Edited May 13, 2012 by Buzzy

chris_b
Oh.... this is terrible news. I wasn’t a Motown fan at the time (they were just pop songs), but Stax and Atlantic? That’s where the cool bass playing was.
ezbass
Noooooooo! :-( RIP Duck. Oh, man...
Exactly what I said when I saw the thread title. Sad news indeed. IMO despite playing for what predominantly a soul organisation (Stax) DD laid down the template for how to play rock bass. This has taken the shine off my morning
