Help: Dust Cap is falling off

Hi everyone,

I've noticed a problem with one of the speakers in my SWR 4x10. The dustcap is coming loose, and is buzzing a bit as a result.

What should I do? The speaker is ok otherwise, just the glue has got a bit brittle and has started to break.

How much chance is there of me trying to repairing it and damaging the speaker surface?

If it's possible to repair on my own then what kind of glue should I use? Whoever had the cab before me has hasn't done a great job!

Is there anyone is SE london that does repairs of this nature?

Copydex (or any other latex glue). Stick it back down.

+1 Copydex and it is an easy repair. I usually ease the whole dust cap off and stick it back down in one piece rather than just trying to stick the loose bit but you'll have to judge this yourself. If it comes off easily because all the glue has failed then this is the right approach. If it is firmly stuck down then more than gentle pulling will damage the cone surface so just stick the loose bit. Use a childs paintbrush to get the glue on both surfaces,

Short term fix, take the dust cap off (bearing in mind what Phil said) until you get around to fixing it.

Araldite also works well, and is used by some of the speaker manufacturers for this purpose. Dustcaps do have a habit of coming loose (but not when they're araldited on).

Simple PVC paper glue will work.
