GregHughes Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) For sale my Fender 1976 Jazz bass which I bought off Wombatboter in Jan. Love this bass but due to a recent purchase of a jazz bass I'm really not sure this will get the use it deserves and I really only need one Jazz bass in my collection. The bass has a refin by Marty Bell In 1999 one of the best refinishers, he uses thinner lacquers, the sound could be better than with the original thick lacquer. The neck also needed adjusting and was taken to a Belgian luthier and he gave the bass a good set-up, gave it a refret. Pickups are Seymour Duncan SJB1 from 90's, electronics is original and the bass has a Badass bridge. Ash body, maple neck, pearl blocks, white binding. Nice Weight - 3,8 kg - 8,4 lb. Not original case but will be well packaged in a padded gig bag. Low action, This bass delivers the classic Jazz ingredients, has a nice Miller-slap and a nice growl when played fingerstyle. Pictures and video curtiousy of Wombatboter as they are much better than I could take/play. This is a players bass rather than a collecters item and deserves to see some stage action. Looking for £1300 (which is what I paid), can include shipping in UK in that. Not really looking for trades as I'm trying to free up some funds and reduce my collection a bit. CBbass Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I'd totally go for this if it had black b&b. Good price, very, very decent refin and a cool bridge! Good luck .
CBbass Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Don't know if the video was just added or if I missed it, but that's a real nice tone dude! Great work!
GregHughes Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 I did originally add it but for some reason it got removed from the thread. The video is Geert (Wombatboter) who I bought the bass off, he's a great bass player. He also did this demo on it. http://youtu.be/VRnDln-U_28
Chris Horton Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 That's a fantastic looking and sounding bass guitar
GregHughes Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Thanks Chris. Its a great example of 70's fender jazz.
EskimoBassist Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 HOLY F**K this Bass is incredible. Don't have the money for this but I sure wish I did!
GregHughes Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Thanks. I don't really want to sell it but I need some funds for a non bass related purchase.
BigBassBob Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Man, I wish I was a Jazz bass sort of guy, I would take this off your hands right NOW. "You don't need a Jazz, you'll only neglect it for a P, you don't need a Jazz, you'll only neglect it for a P, you don't need a Jazz, you'll....."
GregHughes Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Definately. I've heard you make some half decent beer over there. Thanks again for letting me use your demo's/pictures, they really do the bass justice!
