green Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Hey folks. I found this used set of strings in my drawers, and put them on. Now, I really like the way they sound and feel, so I'd like to buy a new set, but unfortunately I don't know what brand or model these are. Let me tell you what I'm sure about: the gauges are 100-80-65-45, and the string tension is pretty hard (but that's subjective). Also, they feel pretty slick, but I'm pretty sure they are not coated, cause I can't see the coating coming of anywhere. Also, they sound quite bright, even though they seem to be used for at least 2 month. So I suppose, those are stainless steel strings, but I maybe wrong on that. Maybe the ball ends and the wrapping at the end on the head stock helps to identify the strings ? Quote
chrismuzz Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 The only strings I've seen that LOOK exactly like those are Ernie Ball's. However they're primarily nickel, and if they're still bright after 2 months use I could very well be mistaken Quote
BigRedX Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 SIT's look like that too. They do Power Wounds in both Nickel and Stainless Quote
green Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 good to know. could you maybe post pictures of the ball ends and the headstock of ernie balls and SITs to compare ? Quote
