Covers bands "openers" what do you start with?

We start with a River Deep, Misirlou, Wipeout medley usually gets them going, that's after the first dance, whic is often rubbish, but tomorrow it's It Must Be Love, which will be fun.

Nowadays we usually start with one everybody knows, Jumping Jack Flash or Wishing Well, sometimes Radar Love

1st set - Vegas Two Times - Stereophonics

2nd set - 21st Century Breakdown - Green Day

Start American Idiot. Wakes em up. Finish Mr Brightside - usually 100% audience up by then. Encore usually ends with Fight for the right. Cue instant need for a laydown and some strepsils as I am the singer too......

This question has caused lots of 'active debating' in the pub band I play in. At the moment it's Jailbird - Primal Scream with a longish intro.

We usually begin with Tush by ZZ Top. Gives the singer a chance to go out front and check the balance during the guitar solo(s).

Occasionally its Changing Man by Paul Weller. The Second set usually begins with Dakota by Stereophonics

Miss Judy's Farm - Faces. We have keys but it works fine without. Tasty guitar intro then it slams in. Nice breakdown then it gets very frenetic at the end. A good statement of intent.
