mingsta
Hi all, Looking for any suggestions for some fairly up beat, get the crowd going type INSTRUMENTAL tracks that would be a good fit for a 5 piece band (drums, bass, guitar x 2, keys). I'm putting on a gig for my wedding in September - but as our singer is involved in a number of other projects, he's asked if we could limit him to 8 vocal tracks so he can rest his voice a bit. So looking to add a couple of instrumental songs and maybe a few shouty numbers that would be easy for one of us to sing (not me, I sound like badger out of bodger and badger when I sing). If we don't get any good suggestions, then we'll just go ahead with our plans for a 20 minute progressive rock/jazz fusion jam, probably with a 5 minute drum solo in the middle. The set list is currently as follows, in no particular order: Signed seal delivered Stevie Wonder Love rears it ugly head Living Color I heard it through the grapevine Marvin Gaye Lovely day Bill withers Use Me Bill withers Apache Rose Red Hot Chili Peppers Dani California Red Hot Chili Peppers Under the Bridge Red Hot Chili Peppers Ming
Graham56
Think Stax/Blues Brothers... Green Onions Peter Gunn Soulfinger (tricky with no horns, but could be done if one fo the guitarists can play the 'melody'

philparker
Do you have any good suggestions from the lead guitarist? When I used to play lead I did a couple of Santana numbers to give the singer a break: Europa, for a slow dance style and Samba Pa Ti as a slightly more up beat piece, both quite simple if not funky enough?! When I was a teenager I used to play The Fall and Rise of Flingle Bunt, by The Shadows, which can be elaborated upon for some good Bluesey fun! casapete
Soul Bossa Nova - Quincy Jones (Austin Powers etc) Return of the Las palmas 7 - Madness Black Magic woman - Santana/F.Mac - works ok as an instr. Hill Street Blues - Mike Post (only if your guitarist & keys players are up to it tho!) How about Blues Bros version of 'Sweet Home Chicago'? - vocal parts can be err..improvised to suit non vocalists? Goes on for ever, but very danceable blues shuffle etc.
