EddieG Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Seems a weeeeeee bit extreme to me..... http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_5840wt_1187 Quote
Ou7shined Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Oh man. I used to have a guitar version of one of these... I gave it away to a mate for nowt some time in the early 90's. He reminds me about it every time I see him. Quote
2Rep Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Jesus wept, I had an identicle one for years, it was a fantastic instrument. I sold it for £175 about 10 years ago, the same price I'de bought it for at Dawsons Warrington back in 78. I'me crying into my teacup seeing that, though I can't see that being a realistic price Quote
GregBass Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Just for reference: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hayman-40-40-Bass-project-refurbishment-/120914478928?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1c27108750 Quote
Paul S Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I had one not so long ago - bought for £200. Sold it - 3years ago? - for £180 with a nos perspex bridge fitted as well. This guy needs to join the real world, I think. Quote
blunderthumbs Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 What planet Is this guy on? Who'd give that sort of money for a plank of wood. Quote
pikeman Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I had one in the early 70s. Heavy, crap sound, unless you like lots of treble. Swapped it for a Fender 12 string. Quote
amnesia Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 For $12000 he could have at least made sure the photos were in focus. Quote
EssentialTension Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I had one of these from about 1974 to 1976. Nice basses but he needs to knock a 0 off and then give a further discount. Quote
Gust0o Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 This is where the "Make an Offer" facility comes in hand - you can offer him the opportunity to f*** himself. This is my favourite part of the add:
The deep, lush finish became checked (spider cracks) on the back of the body at a gig in 1985 when the case was opened too fast on an extremely cold night.
That's been my experience of deep, lush finishes alright. Paul S Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012
What a crappy bass.
No it isn't. If you were to pick one up you'd find it is a beautifully crafted, handmade in the UK vintage bass that, in terms of build quality, can hold its head high. It does have some deficiencies. It is very heavy, has a very wide and thick neck and a weak tone. But it isn't worth anything remotely like the asking price. Quote
