gregsguitars
Anyone have an idea to the meanings of the writing ? Ricky 4001 bass ,1974 model.
Godber
I think that is a name - they usually have the names of RIC workers scrawled at factory inspection stages. Model numbers and finish colours are also common. Is that a white '74?
gregsguitars
Yes it is, I am still going through it, we got two in today, this one is a "Tuxedo' with the black binding....interested?
jonsmith
Sorry to be picky, but If its a genuine Tuxedo, it shouldn't have black binding and the fingerboard should be white with black dots. These were a limited run of 120 basses. I'm assuming it's really a white with black trim - lots of people refer to this (incorrectly) as a Tuxedo. What was the other one you got in? MrFingers
I've got the same scribling... Probably the guy who painted/assembled the bass.
Your correct, my bad, it is a white 4001 (turned yellowish) with the black binding and black pickguard, the other one is a mid 70's players grade 4001 in jetglo.
