i saw a crazy bass today!

It was a p copy, £200 in a green to yellow burst in matte with a tortie guard, with a jazz bass pup at the neck, a p in the middle and an MM bucker in the bridge which seemed to have brass saddles. A 'hook' style fender headstock like the old antorias and the logo 'SPEAR' embossed in silver like some of the US fenders, crazy but kinda cool, bet it would mod well. It had a maple neck with about four knobs and a mini switch, didnt play it but i reckon i may have to go back just to sate my curiosity!

Spear were at Music Live last year.

I tried one of their single-cut designs which was excellent considering the price but a bit too chunky in feel for me - and confirmed that no matter how good single-cuts look the shape doesn't suit my playing style. However, it was probably just as well that they'd already sold out of all the CT influenced double cut basses because I might well have bought one of those...

I got a reply from the distibution company, there's a shop in North Walsham (near Norwich, where I live) that stock their stuff so hopefully I'll get a go myself soon!

hmmm link doesn't seem to work for me, but i do recall there was a Spear bass on ebay quite recently, a red stained wood almost singlecut kind of affair which was pretty nice looking for the price.

would make a good mod, stick a bad ass on it, replace the MM pickup with a nordstrand, Lindy Fralin P Bass pup and Wizard J bass, imagine that sound

Looks more jazzy shaped then, i thought it was a P, im still trying to find time to get back to the shop for a noodle, that colour is much nicer though.
