ped
I was chatting with Dr_of_the_bass at the recent bash and amazed by how shiny and clean the fretboard and frets were on his graphite basses. In comparison mine was a little duller and not as dark. As instructed I used some Brasso on the frets (masked the fretboard with tape) and they came up sparkling and clean. Next, some Mr.Muscle window and glass cleaner on the fretboard. Just a little applied to a clean cloth and gently worked in. Bingo! I have tried various products and have to say this beats them all! Cheers ped
budget bassist
for the frets on my bass i generally just mask the board off with tape and use wire wool, works pretty well for me. Can't comment on the window and glass cleaner though, not sure that would go down to well on rosewood
BigBeefChief
You're meant to clean them?

BassBod
I think one maker (Zon??) used to recommend (a little) WD40 for phenolic fingerboards, to keep them black and shiny.....but don't hold me responsible etc etc BB
ped
I tried that Bassbod - didn't look quite as good as Mr. Muscle!

Lfalex v1.1
I used GT85 (WD40, but better!) and a good deal of elbow grease and a soft cloth on both frets and phenolic board. The Vigier came up well, but dull (which is how I wanted it) The Yamaha seems to have some sort of lacquer on it, and it came up sparkling...
