EssentialTension
That was dreadfully dull - definitely the song was at the wrong gig. Why was Billy Cox any worse than the rest?
gjones
There is no words I can possibly say that describe how awful that lot are. I thought it was a shred at first. They'd all been at the hospitality bar/drug dealer for a long time beforehand methinks. But then I always thought Mitch Mitchell was crap anyway. Edit: Yup pissed out of their tiny minds http://blogs.telegra...m_in_your_hand/ Edited May 28, 2012 by gjones

Cameronj279
Had to stop at 1:50 mark because of my dislikeness (is that a word?) of Slash. I do fairly enjoy the tone whoever that bassist has though!
Yes, fairly, but his playing is not sympathetic of the song at all. ps, if there is currently no such word I believe its coining with respect to Slash is acceptable. So this performance was rehearsed and part of a tour! Unbelievable! Certainly Winwood should be in better company. Shame about Mitch. Gust0o
Yeah, thanks for reinvigorating rock and roll, Jimi - since you've been dead for a while, we didn't think you'd mind if we kept the fuss to minimum... and, besides, we're not getting any younger. Yeah, made my balls ache. In a bad way. The same kind of way airport scanners do, which makes me wonder. Still, the bassist in me managed to find time during the performance to wonder how Slash is allowed to smoke within the workplace - or is it not lit? The human in me didn't care enough to find out, however.

The Byrds weren't covering Hendrix, they were contemporaries doing a version of a song that had been largely "discovered" by David Crosby. It is a traditional song that isn't credited to anyone apparently. This is one of the earliest versions and one of my faves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWv03Wgz0PQ The "supergroup" may have been better-off doing purple haze or voodoo chile IMO. spinynorman
You have to hand it to Tim Rose, he's still spinning the traditional folk song story in 1997. But there's not a lot of hard evidence for the other claims either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHm_8EZ1rJE&feature=related I'd like to believe him, he did way the best version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czovj5bCHt0
