Dood
So, i was wearing my BassChat top proudly a while back, not realising my bag strap was covering the 'B'. yes I have fallen foul of being caught out my a sharp witted person in a crowded place. He noticed and everyone else laughed.

ben604
My trouble usually starts when we're having a practice and discussing equipment or something else and I say "...the guys on Basschat reckon....". Queue groans and moans...

They're just jealous. I mean what have they got? General guitar forums are mostly pants, so they have to traipse off to sites like MyLesPaul where they can argue about bumblebee caps and long-tongue neck joints. Just as 'geeky' as here, if not moreso. But do they lend each other gear? Do they look out for someone if they haven't posted for a while? Do they get together off-site for organised beers and bashes? Do they bollocks. And I stand by my earlier post. If someone takes the piss out of someone else for what they like, they're in line for a (metaphorical) fat lip, afaic. Wayne Firefly
Not as funny as model train collector's forums or great british bus spotters.. its all a bit Simon Quinlank... etc etc etc.....I've always been a bass nerd, F*** 'em !!!!
EskimoBassist
Yeahhh my bandmates have held this as a permanent source of amusement, as have past partners when they have found out. Doesn't bother me though.
ben604
Oh, it's water off a ducks back, to me. I love this place, the depth of knowledge is outstanding and I'll use and contribute to it as much as possible. The rest of them know full well, because I tell them, that this place has benefited the band financially and operationally on more than one occasion! Shambo
I've always referred to this website in real life as a "geeky bass guitar forum". It's nothing personal you understand, it does get quite geeky round here. No one I can recall has ever stifled a snigger at it's mention, though sometimes I overhear the peels of laughter when I've left the room. BassTractor
I've always thought that those who snigger at other peoples' specialist interests or hobbies - trams, philately, house bricks, whatever - are entirely deficient in the virtues of empathy, wisdom and politeness. That they freely articulate such views in the belief that they are demonstrating their innate superiority speaks volumes about their witlessness. It's rather like the person who says "You read books? God, how boring" and howls with idiot laughter. You don't know whether to pity them or lure them to a subterranean cavern and butcher them in the interests of the wider public good.
No comment. It just deserved to be held up and repeated. Mrs Ez occasionally bemoans the amount of time I spend here, but she also realises the huge support network we have here too, and not just bass related either. I only got into musical forums as my drummer used to mention the drum forum quite often and I thought I'd find out if one existed for bass. Started on TB as that was the first thing Google found, but once I found BC the difference was obvious and here I am, yea posts later. Yah boo sucks to the nay sayers. TheRev
I refer to our beloved forum as Bassw@nkers..... My wife posts on a wedding forum (hitched) which she calls Weddingw@nkers. All in the best humour pf course. Bassworld was a cooler name though.

Marvin
These philistines are simply mocking what they ain't got. They simply aren't organised or nice enough to have such a bountiful wealth of knowledge, friendship and arguments as what you find on this 'ere small corner of the internet. Better name than some websites, though. Twee, for me, would be something like - I dunno - PurplePineapple or WhizMonkey. Sappy f***ing names thought up by earnest 'net-savvy' little Hoxton Twats riding round their offices on tricycles. Basschat is a solid, manly sort of name and as British as a cup of hot, strong tea.
