I really like the look (and price) of the jazz. I love blocks and inlays but not on a maple fretboard so i like the clean look of these necks.

Erm, I would check on that. The link to the Jazz is now defunct and I can't find mention of the bass on the Fender page listing the new FSR series

I just ordered my jazz from Thomann, first brand new bass in a long time!

Sold my Ovation Magnum to fund it, sad day and probably fairly unbalanced valuewise. But I am a sucker for puke!

Indeed it does. I think Fender made the right choice putting maple fretboard on these.
The only thing i dont like is the bridge. I just prefer something a bit chunkier so i'd put a Gotoh 201 on it if i had one.

Probably one of the early 2000 models as they were much darker

I've always liked the finish. Almost bought an antigua P Bass in '79 but it was so heavy I decided to go for the Stingray they had in the store which, as I have since found out, is an unusually light Stingray.....
