If you could only have one effect what would it be?

I think id go for either my tone factor mule or my marshall guvnor reissue as its very flexible.

I love the reverb on the XT pro but that counts as cheating, so I had a Boss RV-5 for a while which did the job just as well :0)

Some sort of delay I think - at the moment I use an ME-50B so I've yet to [s]waste loads of money on individual units[/s] experience the world of having one effect per unit! However I do own a Crybaby bass wah which I enjoy

Only one effect to play with at home? Deffinitely digital delay - My marshall echohead would do the trick, but something like a DD20 or DL4 would be more fun.

Only one effect to gig with? I suppose it depends what i'm playing. I really can't live without overdrive, but then I can't live without digital delay! I'll just build them into my bass and then I won't need any pedals

If compression was already on the amp, a pitch shifter. That would give me a detune chorus and octaves.

Delay with LFO modulation. That gives you echos, pseudo reverb, chorus and flange.
