Hello all.
On Sat night/Sun morning 2/3rd June ,after the first gig of the season at the Robin in Bilston thieves broke into our hired van at The Holiday Inn express,Walsall and stole quite a lot of kit.
This wasn`t discovered until 11a.m Sunday morn.
They had crowbarred a corner of the side loading door back and exposed the panel covering an electrical junction box that controls the central locking..
They also, for some reason, stuck a screwdriver or knife into one of the tyres.
The list is extensive and is as follows:

New Model Army equipment stolen from a van in The Holiday Inn

us at [email protected]

Luckily for us the gig we had on Sunday at Strummercamp was made possible by frantic driving around Manchester by myself and generous loans of equipment by members of Goldblade and Neck who were on the bill also.
A big thank you to all in those bands.
Please get in touch with me here or call the numbers provided if you hear anything about any of this stuff, you never know.
Thanks.

Very sorry to read about this. I hope you get it all back

+1. Thieving scumbags. Best of luck retrieving the gear, MM

Nothing I can possibly say will be of much use in this situation - a real bummer of massive proportions, and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. :( I'll spread the word in any case. Good luck with tracing and getting the gear back.

I will keep my eyes open as its in my region, total w***ers especially the tyre! I dont want to point any fingers but that area has a plentiful supply of people with vans that tend to work at night that also have a community that wont grass them in when they return home with a hoard. :(

One wonders if there is a pattern developing in that Bands are being targetted when they are touring and leaving their gear in an unattended but locked van outside their hotel/dogs? Are they being followed after the gig to where they stop for the night or is it more random?

Sorry to read this.

This is not only bad. It also looks like there's system to the madness. Haven't people reported a lot of the same lately?

Anyway, good luck in getting the stuff back.

That's low. Sounds like the bar stewards knew exactly what they were doing as well.

^this; I hope the scum rot; but it does sound like they had you lined up, possibly followed from the gig? Robin's car park is on open view for folk to see what's being loaded out.
There's a few hotels in that area that could equally have been done if it was just on spec.

I know that hotel; IIRC it used to be a Quality Inn years ago? it must have had CCTV in a place that size?

Thanks for replies all.
There were two hotels at that location, both had cctv which is good, but neither would let us access any recordings at the time.
They insisted we wait until normal working hours,(Monday).
I`m not sure at this point whether any of it has been made available to the police yet.
Same with police, who couldn`t be arsed coming out and the TM had to go to them.
Hopefully some of it will surface at some point.
There is a few weeks till the next full show, so replacement kit can be found, but some acoustic shows next week in Greece may be cancelled.

Sounds familiar; until recently Bilston police station was across the road from The Robin, trouble has rocketed since it closed.

PS. Not actually IN The Robin AFAIK, it's a good venue. But Bilston is a spit & you miss it place - it's had shootings, stabbings, the lot in the past couple of years.
I'm not a aware of any Crack Generators in the area so I'd be thinking Brum or Wolves for it to turn up - if not wider afield.

Having this happen after the fire must be a sickener for the lads. I tried out for them earlier in the year, in fact Ceri went in before me. Please pass on my best wishes to them and hopes for some better luck.

Seems to happen a lot, usually citing the DPA, which is bullsh*te. And with the M6 only being just up the road, it could be anywhere in the country whithin hours. If you noticed it quickly amd got a description of what they were driving you'd have at least been in with a chance,, Old bill might have been more interested as well.

I wonder if the tyre getting slashed might have been to prevent you following them if they were disturbed.

Sickener, just the thought of losing that much gear...........

Feeling your pain. That's absolutely vile, gives me that horrible feeling in my gut :-(

Fingers crossed that the gear turns up.

Incidentally, has New Model Army's website been hacked...? If this is/was the correct one. http://www.newmodelarmy.org/

I must say Geert Wilders is an insult to everyone with that last name
