Fuzzbass2000
Always wondered why Fender ship new basses (but different models) with different string gauges, An AV62 has 45-65-80-100s An American Std P has 45-65-85-110TW An American Special P has 45-65-85-105 Obviously easy to change to your own preference and adjust the set-up accordingly, but does anyone know if Fender has some "science" behind their choices? Grand Wazoo
I really can't think of it... my only assumption is that since as you've rightly said the American standard comes with the heaviest gauge of them all, is probably to do with the fact that the AM STD has a Hi-Mass Bridge and string through body? Heavier gauge = more sustain & resonance? F*** knows... ?? Edited June 10, 2012 by Grand Wazoo
