Dave Tipping
About to order some chromes (D'addario ECB81's to be precise) and according to their chart I would be fine with 'Long scale' .. but according to the internet I def. need extra long scale? If it helps to know I string my bass through the bridge as opposed to through the body and it's a 2001 American Standard. On a separate note anybody know the best place to get them from? In terms of cost and speed? Found them pretty cheap on fleabay (less than £20) but amazon seems to be the best i can find at £30 and delivery by Tuesday. dannybuoy
Are Chromes OK to string through the body? Most manufacturers recommend against stringing flats through the body because the sharp angles can cause them to break. Being more flexible, TI flats are OK, but I'd double check first. EssentialTension
I've used ordinary long scale Chromes on a P bass - like you, through the bridge - no problem.
