I know what some self explanatory effects do like fuzz, wah etc but being a new player I haven't the foggiest what some do like envelope filter and flanger etc?!?! Is there somewhere on here that lists effects and what they actually do? Cheers.

not sure if there's anything on BC that does what you ask, but a quick google turned up this :

as for envelope filters and/or auto-wah, think of them as wah triggered by your fingers and dynamics, which can be either up or down sweeps, and the parameters like release time set to your liking.

Shep's blog has just about everything you need to know about effects. I'll get the link in a bit.

YouTube is also your friend.

If you have 'em on the floor most of them mostly make teenaged boys think you're a hard rock god....

I have this really cool effect that if I use it, it increases the initial amplitude of each note, lifts and can clip the front end of the note and helps define the individual notes with a slightly percussive 'click' sound...

I call it a plectrum (T.M.)

It's been a while since the last one, but Octave & Pitch Effects will be next, followed by dirt (fuzz, distortion, overdrive etc).
