does anybody know of such a thing as a peripheral cassette tape deck to fit in a 5" slot in the PC?

i used to have a Digital Tape for backups years ago that was such a device but was wondering if an audio cassette tape version ever existed?

indeed - not good reviews on the spec on them :( found this though [url="http://www.tape-2-pc.co.uk/index.php?gclid=CPbr4ciSyLACFQwjfAodBi0lZA"]http://www.tape-2-pc...CFQwjfAodBi0lZA[/url] which gives me an idea i'd probably be better picking up an old cassette walkman somewhere and shoving the headphone output straight into audacity :)

edit .... if any nice basschatter has an old cassette walkman theyd like to recycle ? :)

ok so ive had a rummage around and found an old tape walkman which i forgot had

all plugged in to the inputs of my emu 0404 but cant seem to get enough volume in to audacity to make recording at decent level

i have the output on teh walkman at about 90-95% ish and the settings on emupatchmix and audacity here




any clues please for an old easily confused person here - thanks muchly

completely forgotten how good all american alien boy actually is!! :D

well there's probably an input gain setting on the soundcard - could be a knob on the actual box or a setting in the software. If you're maxing it out then you'll have to add more gain in Audacity.

That's easy. You just have to select all the audio and I think Audacity has a "Normalize" [sic] effect. Otherwise you will just have to bump up the gain. Whatever it is, it will be under the "effects" tab.

thanks i moved thread to the recording forum -after a few hours of faffing about i eventually found the trim pot channel insert to boost the input gain - record and normailse - works a treat :)
