jayk
Hi I have a bit of a problem, i ordered some stagg bass strings the other day which i just brought to test my new sansamp out with. When they came, i went to restring my bass and i noticed the ball at the bottom of the string was too small to stop the string from slipping out of the bridge so i wasn't able to restring. I can't see why i had a problem, i have a mexican standard jazz so all should be fine there, has anyone else had anything like this? Is there a way i can still use the strings? Also what is that metal hoop at the bottom of a string called? Jake
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Its a ballend - like a cross between ball & bellend. Can you improvise - stick something in the hole in your ballend? or maybe use a washer or something?

SlapbassSteve
I've had this problem before, standard mex bridges have bigger string holes then most other basses for some reason. I find a hearty piece of wire poked through all four ballends sorts it out, though a washer would do the trick.
chris_b
Years ago, I think it was Rotosound, used to include 4 small washers.
